Partner and Regional Director, EP Wealth Advisors
Cannon Carr Jr.
Cannon is a partner at EP Wealth Advisors, overseeing the Atlanta office and its innovative platform to serve clients throughout the southeast.
As a former business owner himself, Cannon works closely with first- and second-generation owners as they grow their businesses, create personal wealth, and build their legacies.
Leveraging his unique career in wealth management, strategy and capital markets, Cannon created the dynamic planning framework called “the 3Rs®” to capture how owners must balance capital allocation as they build business value and personal wealth. The system combines naturally with the comprehensive planning, estate, tax, and value-added resources of EP Wealth to deliver real-time, values-based guidance to the complex needs of business owners pre- and post-sale.
To share insights about building a sustainable business and financial independence, Cannon hosts a podcast series called “Business Owner Tales from the Trenches.” It features past and current business owners at various stages of their journey, as well as key experts, who offer practical, hard-won lessons learned.
Prior to joining the EP Wealth Advisors family, Cannon was principal shareholder and CEO of CornerCap Wealth Advisors, managing $1.2 billion with a team of 22 colleagues, where for over a decade he refined the firm’s vision, led new market growth, and optimized the team’s next-generation leadership, in conjunction with the founder. He led the negotiation and integration of his firm into the EP partnership during 2024.
Inspired by spending time and energy where public service and business cross paths, Cannon has served as President and Board Chair of the Rotary Club of Atlanta, the fourth largest in the U.S. He also serves on the board of Wesleyan College and the advisory board of the Center for Ethics at Emory University, where he is a past Chair. Prior board service includes the Technical College System of Georgia, among other board commitments.
In 2021, Cannon received the Marion Collier Ross Leadership Award from the Rotary Club of Atlanta for outstanding leadership during the pandemic. In 2025, he was nominated and honored with the Titan 100 Award, recognizing outstanding business leaders in Georgia.
Cannon received an MBA from Columbia University and a B.A. from Princeton University.
