A Celebration of Heroes: Honoring the Legacies of Drs. Dowdle, Foege, and Hinman

More than 230 people gathered in person and virtually at The Task Force for Global Health on April 9 for a heartfelt tribute to Drs. Walter Dowdle, William Foege, and Alan Hinman — three extraordinary public health pioneers whose recent passing marks a profound loss in the global health community. Their vision, generosity, and mentorship shaped global health and saved countless lives around the world.

This gathering was co-sponsored by The Carter Center, CDC Foundation, Rollins School of Public Health, and The Task Force for Global Health.

Remarks were given by family members as well as leaders of the sponsoring organizations. Following the remarks, attendees shared personal memories and reflections about the many ways that Drs. Dowdle, Foege, and Hinman influenced them and their career in public health.
